The 2019 Pavie-Decesse is such a stern, searing wine. Forbidding tannins are nearly impenetrable. Graphite, scorched earth, blueberry, lavender, incense, espresso and licorice gradually open in the glass. Readers will have to be patient. I loved Pavie-Decesse en primeur. Today, Pavie-Decesse comes across as awkward and not well put together. Bruising tannins linger on the close.
